Design of Controlled Pre-Split Blasting in a Hydroelectric Construction Project

نویسندگان

چکیده

Geologic conditions and design requirements around upstream Nachtigal Falls, in Cameroon, for the hydroelectric construction project on Sanaga River dictated close control of blasting procedures with very precise geometry to obtain safe economical excavation lines. Various techniques pre-split were used initial stage all major excavations. Hole diameters pre-splitting 89 mm, hole spacing ranged from 0.8 1m. Explosive charges varied 1 7 kg per hole, detonating cord linear charge 12 60g. The contour technique is aimed at controlling overbreak improving remaining slope stability. Over-break or over-excavation needs be controlled since its occurrence compromises operations terms safety (instability slope; loosening rocks that increase risk operational people; an irregular free face subsequent blasting); costs (need reinforcement rock structure through costly sustainment systems; concrete volumes civil works). This paper discusses detail field implementation blasts successfully carried out achieve clean vertical walls moderately dipping, though complexly sheared jointed gneiss. Based results experiments, we able a pattern both experimentally cost-effective manner. It felt methods developed this could have useful applications other projects. MICRO-HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT PHASE III Design Team

Phase III development of a micro-hydroelectric power generating system is focused on enhancing the system designed by Phases I and II. The previous phases focused on the use of the Gorlov Helical Turbine (GHT) to derive power from a fresh water environment, specifically the Stevens River in Vermont. Phase III exclusively focused on deriving power from an ocean environment and the construction o...

Tunnel design and construction process in difficult ground conditions with Analysis of Controlled Deformations (ADECO) approach; a Case Study

The 10.6 km long Sabzkuh water conveyance tunnel is currently under construction in High Zagros structural zone, located in western Iran, has used conventional (in section T1) and mechanized (in section T2) methods. The section T1 of the tunnel driven through alluvial geological units with great complexity in an area high potential for sliding and water-bearing fault which has made the excavati...

The resource-constraint project scheduling problem of the project subcontractors in a cooperative environment: Highway construction case study

Large-scale projects often have several activities which are performed by subcontractors with limited multi-resources. Project scheduling with limited resources is one of the most famous problems in the research operations and optimization cases. The resource-constraint project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is a NP-hard problem in which the activities of a project must be scheduled to reduce the p...
